Illinois CLE Financial Hardship Policy

Midwest Frontier AI Consulting (MWFAI) offers financial hardship assistance to attorneys who wish to attend its Illinois CLE courses but for whom the cost would be a financial hardship. Assistance may be in the form of a partial or full fee waiver. For courses priced over $500, qualifying attorneys will receive a minimum 50% reduction in the course fee.

To apply, contact MWFAI before purchasing the course by emailing [email protected] with the subject line "Illinois Financial Hardship Application." Applications will be reviewed and applicants notified within 10 business days.

This policy is provided pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court Rule 795(f).

Courses Priced Over $500

For courses priced over $500, qualifying attorneys will receive a minimum 50% reduction in the course fee.

Who Qualifies

To be considered, an applicant must demonstrate at least one of the following:

  • New attorney: Admitted to the bar within the past three years;
  • Public interest practice: Primarily serves low-income clients through a legal aid organization or 501(c)(3) nonprofit; or
  • Unexpected financial hardship: Has recently faced a major unforeseeable financial burden, such as a serious medical expense, involuntary job loss, or natural disaster.

Fee reductions do not apply to any associated meals, lodging, or travel costs.

Applications must be submitted before purchasing the course. Fee reductions cannot be applied retroactively.
